E-mail
is Cost Effective
E-mail costs range from $5 to $7 per thousand, while direct mail costs
range from $500 to $700 per thousand, according to the study. Response
time to a direct mail campaign takes an average of three to six weeks,
versus three days for e-mail. Response rates to both channels hover at
around 1%. Put them together, and that response rate rises significantly.

Helps Steer New York InDesign User's Group
Our own Terry and Miriam Frawley have been selected to
the Steering Committee of the NY InDesign
Users
Group. InDesign is Adobe's response
to QuarkXpress, the predominant page layout tool for graphic designers.
e-Diner uses both but we love how InDesign works seamlessly with
other Adobe software. Call or e-mail
if you want to know more about the Group or InDesign.
And
the Winner at PrintTech is...

Mail Reaches Customers Where They Live
Direct mail is gaining in value as an effective way to
reach and maintain customers, and remains a strong marketing vehicle,
even in today's technology-driven society. Direct mail generated over
$582 billion in sales last year. In terms of return on investment, that
means that every dollar invested in direct mail earned $12.53 in revenue.

Direct
Mail Gains Ground
Although 50% of marketers have lowered their TV advertising
budget over the last year, 35% have increased their direct mail and on-line
advertising budgets. According to a survey of 1,500 households conducted
by the U.S. Postal Service, consumers who receive a company's print catalog
account for 22% of the marketer's Website traffic and 37% of its e-commerce
dollars. What's more, 67% of the households surveyed felt that mail was a
more personal medium than the Internet. (DM News / Catalog Age)
